DENTAL CARE FOR PATIENTS WITH MYASTHENIA GRAVIS

Introduction: Myasthenia Gravis is a chronic and autoimmune disease that results in the loss of muscle strength and can restrict dental care. Aim: to perform a literature review about dental care for patients with Myasthenia Gravis. Methodology: books, scientific articles, monographs, dissertations and theses available online were used in the databases PubMed, SciELO and Google Scholar, with searches in Portuguese, English and Spanish, considering the period from 1966 to 2016. Result: myasthenic patients may present muscle fatigue, phonetic, respiratory, masticatory problems and limitations in retaining dental prostheses. Conclusion: the knowledge of the dentist about the disease is important for the planning and the execution of dental care, individually, enabling the quality of life of the patient.
